Research Interests

Kangcheng Liu’s research interests lie within the intersection of robotic systems and 3D vision.

He specialized in Robotics and Automation, Robotics Localization and Mapping, Vision/LiDAR-based Localization, Representation Learning, Computer Graphics, Data-efficient Learning, 3D Deep Learning, UAV/UGV Navigation, Medical Imaging, Multi-axis Robot 3D Printing, Robot Machining, and Onboard Robotics Scene Understanding.

Short Introduction

Prof. Kangcheng Liu’s first-authored works in terms of 3D computer vision and robotics are widely published in international TOP flagship conferences and journals. His first-authored works has won many best paper awards in TOP venues encompassing some international conferences and journals, and was published and recognized as best paper candidates widely among journals such as IJCV and ACM TOG.

In terms of his service, he has been nominated to be the program commitee member of the international flagship conferences: IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), IEEE International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR), IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (CASE), IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), ICARM and IROS. He has also been nominated to be the program session chair of international flagship conferences such as ICRA, IROS, IEEE-SMC, ICIP, ICARM, CYBER, and ICCA. He also serves as the program commitee member or the reviewers of more than 50 kinds of international conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ACM SIGGRAPH, CoRL, and more than 20 kinds of international TOP journals such as IJCV, T-PAMI, IJRR, T-RO, JFR, AIJ, and T-CYB.

He received his Ph.D. degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) with honors. He obtained the B.Eng degree at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation Harbin Institute of Technology with honors, and with a minor in mechatronic engineering. He was selected as the HKPFS awardee (TOP 162 at Hong Kong in 2018) during his PhD, and he was also elected as the TOP-20 annual outstanding graduate of HIT.
